Robin is recognized as an exceptional coach, speaker, clinician, and choreographer. Going into her 28th year as a veteran coach, she has coached local, state, regional, and national champions of all ages. She is the founder of one of the largest local and national cheer and dance championships in New England. Robin has been judging cheerleading cham- pionships at the local, state, regional, and national level for 24 years. Under her direction her gym including coaches, ath- letes, and fans have been honored with numerous awards for Gym Ownership, Leadership, Sportsmanship, Loyalty, and Choreography. She was the Northeast Regional Director for the U.S. All-Star Federation and certifies gym owners and coaches.
Derron is the CEO and founder of Planet Stunt LLC (a cheerleading training and choreography company), studied Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training at the University of Connecticut. While attending UConn, he cheered for 6 years, received his B.S. in Physiology and Neurobiology, and worked towards his Masters in Biotechnology. Derron worked for UCA (the largest cheerleading company in the world) for 16 years, with the last 14 being as a Head Camp Instructor and UCA Staff Mentor and Trainer. Derron is currently a member of both the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) and the United States All Star Federation (USASF). He is a USASF Safety Judge and also worked with the USASF credentialing coaches, instructors, and gyms, and is certified by USASF for Levels 1-6 stunting and tumbling. He is certified to train and teach at all levels: All-Star levels 1-6, Colleges and Universities, High School, Middle School, Youth, Pop Warner, and Recreational cheerleading. Derron works internationally and professionally with cheerleading teams and gyms in Russia, England, Holland, Jamaica, Finland, Scotland, Germany, and Australia. He has won over 25 National Titles as a coach and competitor. Derron is currently coaching Onyx, our International Open Small Coed Level 6 team. He helped lead them to a 4th place finish in 2016 at The Cheerleading Worlds, as well as a 6th place finish in 2017 at The Cheerleading Worlds.
Idris has been coaching at Spirit All-Stars since 2004 starting with the Open Coed 6 team. During his time at Spirit, he has coached his teams to over 30 regional and national titles, 1 Varsity Summit Bid, 8 At-Large Bids and 3 Full Paid Bids to The USASF Cheerleading Worlds, a 4th place finish in International Open Small Coed Level 6 in 2016, and a 6th place finish in International Open Coed Level 5 in 2010 at The Cheerleading Worlds. This past season he coached our Senior 3 team, Emeralds, to a US Finals championship, as well as a 6th place finish at The Cheerleading Worlds for Onyx, our International Open Small Coed Level 6 team.
Lucy has been a part of Spirit All-Stars for 17 years. She started off in the competitive gymnastics program then transitioned to cheer at the college level. After a year of college cheer she came onto Onyx being a part of their team for 3 years. She is going into her 7th year of coaching at the gym. She is currently coaching Diamonds, our Senior Level 4 team, and is excited for this upcoming season!
Nicole has been involved with cheerleading since the age of 5, beginning in her hometown Bath, Pennsylvania on a recreational competition team from elementary up until middle school. Nicole cheered for Rocket Elite All-Stars from 2004-2009, becoming a national champion at UCA Nationals in 2005. Nicole began cheerleading in college at Slippery Rock University on their co-ed cheerleading team, earning second place at UCA Nationals. The following three years of her college career she attended University of Delaware where she continued to cheer on their co-ed team, placing second at UCA Nationals 2010-2013 and receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Nicole has experience coaching all different ages including half year teams at Rocket Elite, volunteering as a junior coach for her recreational team, coaching Avon Grove's High School Cheerleading team for two years, and upon moving to Connecticut continued as head cheerleading coach for Bristol Central High School's Varsity and JV Cheerleading team. Since undergrad, Nicole has obtained her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and also has been a part of the NBA's fan patrol co-ed cheerleading team. She has had the opportunity to perform skills at numerous NBA events including local events, NBA All Star games, and traveling overseas to numerous places including England, Turkey, China, and South Africa. Nicole currently coaches Diamonds Senior Level 4 team and is very excited to be back in the gym!
Stephanie has been a competitive cheerleader for the past 19 years and has a background in dance. She formerly cheered for Shelton High School, Florida Atlantic University, and Southern Connecticut State University. She began teaching tumbling classes at Spirit in 2009. She has aided in training many of the top competitive programs in the area. She has experience teaching all ages and ability levels. Stephanie coaches Junior 2 and is a member of Onyx.
Stephanie started coaching with Foran High School cheerleading, Milford CT (1993-1996). She then became a Head Coach and Director of the Velocity All Star Cheerleading team, Milford, CT (2004 – 2011). While there, she was also coaching Pop Warner for Fairfield, CT (2005 – 2006) and Stratford, CT (2007 – 2013). She was also the Assistant Cheerleading Coordinator for SCPW (2014-2016). She is currently a Coordinator & Coach of the Half Year cheer teams at Spirit All Stars, Hamden, CT (2011 – Present).
Dana started cheering at 9 years old. As a cheerleader in elementary and high school, she was a 6-time NCA All-American Cheerleader and Top Gun Dancer. She became involved with Spirit All-Stars in 2000. During her time at Spirit, Dana coached athletes of all ages and abilities. This included the Sparkles and Emeralds teams, which were both incredibly successful. Over the years, her teams have won numerous National Championships, including top 3 placements at NCA and Cheersport Nationals. In addition to coaching, Dana was also one of the first members of the Spirit Open team, which is today known as Onyx. She has also judged at Pop Warner, High School and All-Star events. Currently, Dana teaches Special Education Pre-K in East Haven. She has also taught Kindergarten. She received her undergraduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University and has recently received her Master’s in Education from the University of St. Joseph. After taking a break in 2011 to start a family, Dana is back with her Spirit family. Currently Dana is coaching the Twinkles and is very excited about this season!
Born and raised in Hamden, Erin has been involved with cheerleading since the age of 5. Since beginning her coaching career in 2001 she has coached recreational, high school, and all-star cheerleading. Erin is very excited to be back this year as a coach of the Twinkles!
